Adoption website goes live!

As many of you know, Jamie & I are in the process of adopting a child from Ethiopia. After our devastating experience with miscarriage to our consistant and unexplained inability to conceive again, we decided to pursue this course. It took us many months of prayer and consideration, but we truly believe this is God's plan for our family. Among the challenges we will face along the way, finances will be our biggest hurdle. There are significant expenses involved in this process. As missionaries, this will be exceptionally challenging to our support-based income. To that end we have launched an exciting fund raising project:

Adopt-a-Pixel: The Arpin-Ricci Adoption Fund Raiser
www.adoptapixel.ca

We are asking you to consider getting involved in helping us in the process. At the website there is a beautiful picture of a baby.. The pixels of this image are yours to "adopt". Simply visit the website and "adopt a pixel". Every donation, even as little as $1, will really help. As donations come in, we will keep you updated. Our goal is to raise $20,000 towards the process. Scroll over the image to see how many pixels have been adopted!

You can also help out by getting the word out. We are asking anyone who is willing to promote this on their blogs and websites, both by posting on it and/or adding the button to your site (see above). We also have a Facebook cause that you can join and invites friends to join. Every little bit helps.

What an exciting week!

This was honestly one of my best weeks in a long time.  It started last weekend when we attended our adoption retreat.  We were a little unsure what to expect and was blown away by our adoption agency.  Not only was the weekend very well organized, with lots of information (you should see our syllabus) and advice, but it was great to meet the people that are working so hard along side us to see this become a reality.  It also was great to meet other couples who have decided to adopt as well.   We came away knowing that this was what we were meant to do and that Ethipia is definately the country for us.

If that wasn't enough in one week on Tuesday our bookstore finally opened.  YEAH!!!   Who would have thought.  It is nice to see my husband truely happy and working in his element.  If you live in Winnipeg or close by you should definately drop by and check it out.  What a week!!

What a busy week!

I can't believe it is nearly the weekend.  This week has flown by.  At the begining of the week the city gave us the go ahead to open up YWAM's used bookstore.  So as of next week Tuesday we will finally be open!!  YEAH!!!  It has been a long time coming and right now I just feel relief that a dream that Jamie had a year and half ago will be up and running.  It is so much nicer and better than I could ever imagine.  If you live close by I really suggest dropping in.

The other big thing we have been trying to prepare for this week, is our adoption retreat.  Tomorrow we will be heading out of town to an educational seminar.  Every step is a step closer and it is pretty exciting to meet the people that will helping us to make this a reality.  I also want to learn more about what we can expect over these next few months, and the years to follow.

As most of you know our life is usually rather busy and hectic but this week it just seems bigger and I mean that in a good way.  Hopefully Jamie and I will have the energy to get through next week as well.
